My 1st St. Patrick’s Day As Grandpa T-shirt
IMHO – I wrestled with this question for a bit and keep coming up with two answers. Now bear in mind that this does not ask who was the most evil. It asks for unlikeable. Thus with no real redeeming qualities or true ethics or with benign intentions that simply go bad. These are just two uncaring, except for themselves, narcistic/self centered, greedy individuals. One is a major racist and bigot while the other could care less so long as everyone serves his purposes before he kicks them to the curb. Both are so amazing stupid as to believe their own shit does not stink and TV audiences are rewarded for watching by seeing their dumb greedy schemes backfire. And I should also add that the actors who played these two characters were nothing like them in real life which is to their credit as performers.
For me it’s a three-way dead heat between Molly Weasley, Lolth the Demon Queen of Spiders, and the God of the Bible. I always thought it was Cliff Clavin on Cheers. If you watch the beginning of the show he was the stereotypical blowhard know it all bar fly. Where his humor was best is when he was the comic foil to Norm who gave as good as he got. He also was a good foil to Carla since he really had this almost child like faith in the world. I think it was about the time Shelly Long left that his character became much darker. It was almost perverse the way he would focus on things and he became a truly dangerous character. Given the number of shootings in post offices at the time, his character became even worse. Sometimes you could still see the nice and childlike guy he was in the beginning of the show but otherwise the writers got lazy with him and made him some type of total loser/psycho.
