Edited to add: My husband had several (wool) suits made after he found the right tailor. One time he brought in his favourite jacket (it even had a designer label) and said he wanted another made just like it. The tailor looked it over and examined the details of pockets, buttons, height and width of lapels and so on. Then he opened it up to look at the lining. With an dismissive sniff he remarked “Well, we won’t copy the inside”; meaning that the expensive suit’s lining and the tailoring on the inside pockets were skimpy. He showed us the lining on a suit he was just going to deliver and it was far superior, with many more clever pockets and beautiful bias-bound edges.
